Hedging Ideas

Cupressocyparis leylandii 'Leighton Green'

This evergreen tree is used very successfully as a dense hedge between 2 to 4 metres, and will screen out the neighbours in as little as 3 years.  If you live by the bay and require protection from stong winds, the Leighton Green is the ideal solution for an excellent wind barrier.  Not only does this hedge tolerate windy, salt-laden air and but the heat and cold too.  Once established, the Leighton Green is drought tolerant, however, may require a little supplementary water in extremely dry times.

If you want to see an excellent example of this hedge, come and visit us at the nursery.  We have planted it along our west boundary.  It has a thick habit from the ground up and copes extremely well during our hot summers.  We prune our hedge once a year, however if you want to keep your hedge looking manicured throughout the year, a half yearly prune may suit your style better.
